Easy way out

I don’t think I was always like this but in the last few years I have realised that I find both receiving and giving a gift extremely stressful. It may come off as lazy or impersonal but for my sanity I always prefer to give cash or a voucher as a gift. This is simply because I am an obsessive overthinker so the whole process of deciding on a gift for someone is extremely tough for me. If it weren’t for this I would spend a lot of time imagining what the person would like. I would trouble myself with questions like “If I give them x would they like it?” or “Would x be useful to them?” or “How would I feel if they gifted me x?” etc. So I take the easy way out!
