This in response to the Daily Post’s One-Word Prompt. Today’s word is : Genius.
Most people hear the word GENIUS and instantly relate it to Einstein. As soon as I hear this word, the only person I can think of is Nikola Tesla.
I have been a big fan of the online comic “The Oatmeal” by Matthew Inman. He covers a myriad of interesting topics and some of his comics are too funny, maybe because they’re so relatable.
One of my favourite Oatmeal comics is “Why Nikola Tesla was the greatest geek who ever lived”
It is a brilliantly written and illustrated piece which I would highly recommend everyone to read.
It talks about the genius mind of Nikola Tesla and his uncountable contributions to science and technology.
It discusses about the Tesla vs. Edison episode in great detail. The big AC vs. DC debate is quite an interesting part of science history and apart from this wonderful comic, I would also suggest to watch the episode “Edison vs. Tesla” on the Netflix series American Genius.
The comic also highlights the numerous inventions where Tesla’s research was instrumental. Some of these include hydroelectricity, cryogenics, radar technology, transistors, electric motors, wireless communication etc. etc.
He was a great man, a man who was not valued enough for his limitless contributions and was not given the due respect and glory he deserved.
So here’s some snippets from this amazing comic!
Read and enjoy! 😊
